- “Continued sales also undercut Illinois’ licensed cannabis businesses and the social equity businesses at the core of its cannabis industry.”
The Maryland Cannabis Administration is establishing a process allowing firefighters and paramedics who work in the state but live out-of-state to qualify for protections under a new law that shields first responders from being penalized over their lawful use of medical marijuana.
LeafLink’s Rodney Holcombe argues in a new Marijuana Moment op-ed that while this week’s election “didn’t legalize cannabis in Wisconsin, Pennsylvania, Texas, North Carolina or Georgia,” it “changed the political conditions under which those decisions will be made.”
- “It’s an opportunity we can’t let slip by. We must redouble our efforts to end prohibition, protect existing markets and build new markets that deliver public health, safety and economic benefits to their communities… Changes in Washington may have also created opportunities to renew federal reform, including potential bipartisan action between the incoming Congress and the White House.”
Texas’s election results—which saw Democrats win races for governor and lieutenant governor, as well as a majority in the House of Representatives—boost the chances for marijuana and hemp THC product reform in the state, advocates say.
