Twitter updated its marijuana advertising policy—but despite widespread excitement among industry stakeholders about how it allows them to “promote brand preference and informational cannabis-related content for CBD, THC and cannabis-related products and services,” it has serious limitations, including that it doesn’t allow ads promoting marijuana product sales.
The New Hampshire House Commerce and Consumer Affairs Committee amended and approved a marijuana legalization bill. Its next stop is a floor vote, expected next week.
The Washington State House Regulated Substances and Gaming Committee approved an interstate cannabis commerce bill. Companion cross-border marijuana trade legislation is also advancing on the Senate side.
The North Carolina Senate Judiciary Committee held a hearing on a medical cannabis legalization bill. Separately, the speaker of the House—where a Senate-passed proposal died last session—said he thinks his chamber is ready to go along this year.
The California Department of Cannabis Control launched a $20 million grant program to support cities and counties in establishing local marijuana business licensing programs to address unmet consumer demand and help curb the illicit market.
Louisiana Gov. John Bel Edwards (D) is signaling a forthcoming crackdown on intoxicating hemp-derived products.

The Government Accountability Office examined barriers to participation in adult drug courts.
The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration tweeted, “THC and other chemicals from marijuana can also be passed from mother to baby through breast milk 🍼 impacting a child’s healthy development.”
Sen. Jerry Moran (R-KS) said he thinks a veterans medical cannabis research bill will be approved in the Senate Veterans’ Affairs Committee on Thursday.

A study of patients with inflammatory bowel disease found that “cannabis users were less likely to need total parenteral nutrition, and in 2015 had less hospital charges.”
A study suggested that “high doses (>600 mg) of oral CBD can inhibit the metabolism of oral Δ9-THC, resulting in stronger drug effects compared with Δ9-THC in the absence of CBD.”
