President Trump is reportedly weighing a plan to fire U.S. Attorney General Jeff Sessions and replace him with current Environmental Protection Agency Administrator Scott Pruitt. As Oklahoma attorney general, Pruitt sued neighboring Colorado over its marijuana law and tried to block a medical cannabis ballot measure in his own state. And — no joke — Pruitt would be able to run the Justice Department on an acting basis for up to 420 days without Senate confirmation.

A poll found that New Jersey voters support legalizing marijuana, 59%-37%.

/ FEDERAL

U.S. Sen. Cory Booker (D-NJ) tweeted support for New Jersey Gov. Phil Murphy’s move to legalize marijuana in the state.

Congressman Todd Rokita (R-IN) released a report on school safety that  claims marijuana is a “gateway drug” and that it “should only be used when prescribed by a licensed practicing professional.”

Congressman Ro Khanna (D-CA) tweeted about racial disparities in marijuana arrests.

/ STATES

Indiana lawmakers sent a bill legalizing the sale of CBD oil to the desk of Gov. Eric Holcomb (R).

New York independent gubernatorial candidate Joel Giambra commissioned a study finding that legalizing marijuana would generate $500 million in tax revenue annually.

Colorado Democratic gubernatorial candidate Jared Polis, currently a congressman, tweeted about the economic benefits of the state’s marijuana laws.

The Connecticut General Assembly’s General Law Committee will hold a Thursday hearing on a marijuana legalization bill.  The Judiciary Committee will hear its own legalization bill on Monday.

Delaware’s marijuana legalization task force voted to release its final report.

An Arkansas judge halted the issuance of medical cannabis cultivation licenses amidst litigation from unsuccessful applicants.

Washington State lawmakers included $100,000 for industrial hemp licensing in the budget.

The Washington, D.C. Council’s Health Committee approved legislation to expand access to medical cannabis.
