The New Hampshire House Health, Human Services and Elderly Affairs Committee held a hearing on a bill to allow medical cannabis patients to grow their own medicine—with a vote scheduled in the panel this week.

The Kansas House minority leader and 34 cosponsors filed a bill to release current marijuana prisoners and expunge cannabis records.

The California Governor’s Office of Business and Economic Development announced it has awarded $15 million in grants to support local efforts to promote equity in the marijuana industry.

As more state legislatures continue to consider psychedelics reform legislation, Marijuana Moment compiled a roundup of the latest bill introductions and votes in Iowa, Missouri, New Hampshire and Utah last week.

Marijuana Leadership Campaign Director of Government Relations Don Murphy wrote in a new Marijuana Moment op-ed that “if there was ever a better time to be a cannabis advocate on Capitol Hill, I don’t know when.”

  • Reform is achievable this Congress under a GOP House, he argues, pointing out that the last time meaningful federal marijuana reform was enacted (the rider protecting state medical cannabis laws from DOJ interference) it was with a Republican House and Democratic Senate and White House—the same situation as today.

Food and Drug Administration Commissioner Robert Califf said “it’s time to create a new regulatory pathway for the 30 something derivatives of a cannabis plant that end up in everything from animal feed to cookies.”

The U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Central District of California is allowing a former cannabis company to continue a Chapter 11 case.

New York Gov. Kathy Hochul (D) announced the opening of the state’s fourth legal recreational marijuana dispensary on Monday.

Colorado Gov. Jared Polis’s (D) office is preventing his appointees to the Natural Medicine Advisory Board from speaking to the press.

The Louisiana Governor’s Drug Policy Board held a hearing on consumable hemp products.

The Oregon attorney general launched an investigation of top managers at the Liquor and Cannabis Commission.

The West Virginia Senate Judiciary Committee approved a bill to ban kratom, delta-8 THC and delta-10 THC products.

The Oklahoma Senate Business and Commerce Committee approved a bill to further restrict where medical cannabis businesses can be located.

The South Dakota House Health and Human Services Committee approved legislation to place restrictions on doctors who recommend medical cannabis.

The Washington State Senate Law and Justice Committee approved a bill to classify drug possession as a gross misdemeanor after temporary criminalization laws expire this year.

The Montana House Business and Labor Committee held a hearing on a bill to effectively ban most marijuana advertising.

Nevada Assembly committees took testimony from cannabis regulators.

A Minnesota senator posted a video expressing concerns about advancing marijuana legalization legislation, and another senator sent a constituent letter criticizing the bill.

A Georgia judge denied a motion to unseal medical cannabis regulators’ records.

Missouri has a new top marijuana regulator.

Massachusetts regulators again extended temporary COVID policies such as allowing curbside pickup at marijuana dispensaries and waiving the requirement for in-person physician examinations for medical cannabis recommendations.

A Montgomery, Alabama city councilor is hosting a town hall meeting on issuing citations for marijuana possession in lieu of arrests on Saturday.

/ INTERNATIONAL

Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim said the government is awaiting recommendations from the Health Ministry before deciding whether to legalize medical cannabis.

The chair of the Mexican Senate Governance Committee said cannabis regulation is an issue that could be dealt with this session.

Amsterdam, The Netherlands is banning the use of marijuana on the street in the city’s red light district.

Germany’s Union political faction is calling for the “supply of patients with ultra-pure cannabis medicinal products to be ensured in the event of a controlled sale of cannabis to adults for recreational purposes.”

A study found that CBD “exerted anti-cancer activity by reducing epithelial-mesenchymal transition and causing cell cycle arrest.”
