The House Appropriations Subcommittee on Agriculture, Rural Development, Food and Drug Administration, and Related Agencies approved a bill with provisions to ban most consumable hemp-derived cannabinoid products that were federally legalized during the first Trump administration.
Colorado Gov. Jared Polis (D) signed bills to streamline marijuana regulations, allow mass pardons for prior psychedelics convictions and revise how cannabis revenue is allocated.
The Ohio House Judiciary Committee heard hours of public testimony against a bill to revise the state’s voter-approved marijuana legalization law, with members signaling that further changes to the plan are on the way in response to those concerns.
The Nevada legislature passed a resolution calling on the federal government to “reschedule psilocybin, psilocin, DMT, ibogaine, mescaline and MDMA to a schedule that better reflects the therapeutic value, low potential for abuse and safety.”
A federal judge denied the Oregon Health Authority’s motion to dismiss a lawsuit claiming that the state’s psilocybin services program violates the Americans With Disabilities Act by discriminating against homebound patients who can’t travel to designated service centers.
The CEO of Jack Daniel’s maker Brown–Forman Corporation said growing use of cannabis as an alternative to alcohol is putting “pressure” on the spirits industry—with the company noting that “further legalization of marijuana” is among the “risks and uncertainties” for the sector.
A new study shows that after cannabis legalization, “hotel revenue increases by 25.2%…with the effect continuing to grow even six years after legalization”—highlighting “the potential long-term economic advantages of recreational marijuana.”

The Food and Drug Administration sent a warning letter to Latro Inc. about products it says contain delta-8 THC.
Rep. Andy Harris (R-MD) said he is “overjoyed” that President Donald Trump included a continued ban on Washington, D.C. legalizing recreational marijuana sales in his budget request.
Rep. Jamie Raskin (D-MD) reacted to former Department of Government Efficiency head Elon Musk criticizing a Republican-led budget bill by tweeting, “Now even someone on ketamine, mushrooms and Ecstasy can see it.”

New York Gov. Kathy Hochul (D) nominated a member of the Cannabis Control Board to take over as its new chair.
North Carolina Gov. Josh Stein (D) tweeted, “I look forward to working with the General Assembly to address existing loopholes on cannabis sales that allows teens to buy intoxicating THC here in NC and come up with thoughtful, comprehensive solutions to allow adult use and keep our children safe.”
Connecticut’s attorney general cheered the passage of legislation targeting illegal cannabis and tobacco sales.
The Massachusetts House of Representatives passed a bill to overhaul the Cannabis Control Commission.
The Vermont House of Representatives rejected a Senate-passed proposal to allow cannabis growers to sell directly to consumers.
The Maine House of Representatives rejected a bill to exempt medical cannabis from sales taxes.
A federal judge denied a request for a temporary injunction against a Florida law that marijuana legalization and other campaigns say make it improperly difficult to qualify ballot initiatives.
Minnesota regulators conducted the state’s first marijuana business license lotteries.
South Dakota regulators filed proposed changes to medical cannabis rules.
Washington State regulators initiated rulemaking on batch tracking of cannabis plants and measuring marijuana license distance.
The California Legislative Analyst’s Office said that a planned marijuana tax increase will “reduce the size of the licensed cannabis market.”
Missouri regulators published guidance on permitted activities by marijuana businesses.
Illinois regulators halted licensing of new recreational marijuana dispensaries.
