The Connecticut Senate approved a marijuana legalization bill. The measure now heads to the House, which plans to send it to Gov. Ned Lamont (D) by the end of the session on Wednesday.

Louisiana lawmakers sent a bill to decriminalize marijuana to Gov. John Bel Edwards (D). Last week the legislature also voted to add smokable flower to the state’s medical cannabis program.

Nevada Gov. Steve Sisolak (D) signed a bill legalizing marijuana social consumption lounges.

  • “Consumption lounges will further solidify Las Vegas’ status as the entertainment capital of the world as well as THE destination for cannabis tourism.”

The Delaware House of Representatives is scheduled to vote on a marijuana legalization bill on Thursday. It needs a supermajority to pass, and Gov. John Carney (D) governor opposes the reform, but advocates think it’s doable.

The House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee is set to vote this week on a bill to let scientists study marijuana that consumers are actually purchasing from dispensaries instead of just using government-grown cannabis in research. It would also allow interstate transportation of the product to researchers in places that haven’t yet legalized.

The Drug Enforcement Administration will host an event about its efforts to interdict drug shipments on June 17.

/ STATES

Vermont Gov. Phil Scott (R) signed a bill aimed at increasing equity in the marijuana industry.

Louisiana Gov. John Bel Edwards (D) signed a bill to allow federally approved cannabis medicines.

Mississippi Gov. Tate Reeves (R) said he supports the will of voters who approved medical cannabis and wants lawmakers to enact a new program after the state Supreme Court overturned the original measure.

New Hampshire Gov. Chris Sununu (R) signed a bill on medical cannabis strain labeling.

The Pennsylvania House of Representatives approved a bill to change medical cannabis rules, including extending expansions that were made during the coronavirus pandemic.

The New York Senate approved a bill to decriminalize syringes.

The South Dakota legislature’s Rules Review Committee rejected proposed regulations on medical cannabis use at schools.

Several New Mexico lawmakers are consulting for the marijuana industry.

Washington State regulators issued guidance allowing marijuana businesses to give away one free joint to each customer who receives a coronavirus vaccine.

The Virginia Joint Legislative Audit and Review Commission discussed how the state’s new marijuana legalization law compares to the report on the issue it published last year. Separately, the State Police reported that drug arrests decreased by more than a third last year and that cannabis seizures are down significantly, “due in large part to decriminalization of the drug.”

A lawsuit challenging Oklahoma’s residency requirement for medical cannabis business owners was dismissed by a federal judge.

The Missouri Supreme Court is considering a case seeking to force regulators to reveal information about medical cannabis business license applications.

Arizona’s Department of Public Safety was awarded funds to combat marijuana-impaired driving.

California regulators approved rules restricting marijuana billboard advertising.

Sioux Falls and Lincoln County, South Dakota lawmakers will consider medical cannabis ordinances on Tuesday.

/ INTERNATIONAL

Toronto, Canada’s chief medical officer of health said the city should ask permission from the federal government to decriminalize drugs.

/ SCIENCE & HEALTH

A study “provided evidence that CBD and CBG formulated appropriately exhibit anti-inflammatory activity.”

A study found that adding medical cannabis “to standard oncology care was well-tolerated and may lead to improved pain control and lower opioid requirements.”

/ ADVOCACY, OPINION & ANALYSIS

The Delaware Democratic Party tweeted, “We know that legalizing marijuana, raising the minimum wage and enacting gun safety laws are supported by the majority of Delawareans.”

The Casper Star-Tribune editorial board said lawmakers should conduct a formal study of marijuana legalization.

The Albuquerque Journal editorial board supports a local zoning plan for marijuana businesses.

Marley Natural is opening a marijuana dispensary at Bob Marley’s former home and recording studio in Kingston, Jamaica.

Charlotte’s Web Holdings, Inc. filed a prospectus supplement to establish an at-the-market equity program to offer up to C$60 million worth of shares.

Planet 13 Holdings Inc. said it saw record sales of $11.2 million in May.

WM Wholesale LLC sued one of its co-founders for allegedly taking bribes, improperly selling products on the side and building a competing business using trade secrets.
