Sen. Cory Booker (D-NJ) tweeted, “It’s not enough to end the federal prohibition on marijuana—we must expunge the records and repair the damage done to those communities who were harmed by the failed War on Drugs. This bill does this and more to achieve long overdue restorative justice.”

Rep. Darren Soto (D-FL) tweeted, “Finally ⁦@HouseDemocrats⁩ will vote to decriminalize #marijuana under federal law! This recognizes its medical properties, moves federal law in line with many states, and is long overdue.”

Rep. Barbara lee (D-CA) tweeted, “This legislation is critical for criminal justice reform. The MORE Act would erase criminal records for marijuana charges and bring justice to Black and brown folks who are incarcerated unjustly.”

Rep. Ro Khanna (D-CA) tweeted, “Here’s an idea for states that need to cover budget shortfalls: legalize marijuana. I will keep fighting to end prohibition nationwide, expunge prior offenses & invest in the communities that have been hard hit by both this pandemic and the War on Drugs.”

Tennessee Democratic congressional candidate Christopher Hale tweeted, “To every liberty loving Tennessean, I’ll be your best champion in the United States Congress. Unlike Deep State DesJarlais, I’ll stop wasting billions of your dollars on the War on Drugs, endless wars in the Middle East, & platinum health care plans for career politicians.”

Missouri Republican congressional candidate Ryan Derks posted on Facebook, “I don’t see why cannabis needs to be illegal, especially in a place where alcohol and tobacco are legal. freedom to choose. tax it. put it in science labs.”

Hawaii Gov. David Ige (D) signed a hemp bill into law.

Mississippi Gov. Tate Reeves (R) said he’s not considering pardoning a woman serving a life sentence for marijuana.

Illinois Gov. J.B. Pritzker (D) touted the legalization of marijuana as one of his administration’s top achievements.

Montana Democratic gubernatorial candidate Mike Cooney released a plan that includes steps to support hemp as a crop.

A New Jersey senator is accusing legislative leaders of stalling a marijuana decriminalization bill.

Vermont lawmakers published requirements for hemp potency and contaminant testing.

Nebraska regulators issued guidance on illegal drug tax stamps.

Virginia’s Medical Cannabis Work Group will meet Tuesday.
